2006 Central Region/NWSGA Winner Ted Buehner - Seattle, WA

Thirty four golfers from 13 states participated in the 21st annual NWSGA/Central Region golf outing held June 19-23 at LaComa Golf Course and Galena Golf Club in East Dubuque, IL.   An estimated 5 to10 non-golfers accompanied the golfers raising the total number of people in attendance to around 40.  The golfers had to wait out 1 hour rain delays Tuesday and Wednesday but managed to complete all 18 holes eventually.  The weather Monday, Thursday and Friday was ideal.

The lodging and hospitality arrangements were at Timmerman’s Lodge-about Ό mile from LaComa Golf Course.  Of the 34 golfers, 8 of them were participating for the first time including 4 firemen/storm spotters from the Lake Mills, WI Fire Department.   An outreach table with a NOAA logo and NWS informational brochures was set up in the hallway outside of the hospitality room at the motel.

Part of the entry fees for the Tuesday and Wednesday Scrambles were targeted as a donation for the Red Cross for disaster relief.  At the Friday afternoon awards luncheon, Brian Hahn presented Emily Szeszycki of the American Red Cross of the Tri-States with a check in the amount of $510.00.  A number of the golfers donated prizes.  Thanks!
